Penatron 4037 is a softer and more flexible version of the 4036 low viscosity urethane/polyurea. The 4037 is specifically designed for the rapid applications of concrete sealing, annular filling for fixtures, filling expansion joints in concrete or asphalt, repair of cracks in asphalt pavement, asphalt to concrete joints, moving concrete joints and asphalt kerf installations where a product with lower durometer hardness is needed.
Penatron 4037 is designed for quick and machine applications for expansion joint applications. The product is black, has high chemical resistance and mixes easily as a 1:1 ratio mix using the ASTC Little Squirt application pump or a speed mixer and a drill motor. The product has an excellent bond to concrete and asphalt surfaces. Penatron 4037 applications can be put back in service in approximately 30-45 minutes after the installation is complete and the product is ready for pneumatic tire traffic.
Note: Environmental temperature plays a role in set time; environments with high heat will speed the set time of the product and cool temperature will slow the set time. 4037 may be supplied in the same set time as the 4036 as needed.
Unique Characteristics: 4037 is low in viscosity, allowing the product to penetrate into the asphalt or concrete joint surfaces. Normally no priming is needed. Moist areas should use a primer. Applications are made quickly and set time is in about 4 to 6 minutes and can be adjusted for slow set as needed. Standard speed is fast set which allows for a back-in-use time or approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Preparation: Clean the area of debris and contaminants that would act as a bond breaker, i.e., materials such as oils, loose materials, dirt, rubber etc. Expose clean, rough, non-contaminated concrete or asphalt. Make sure the area is dry. Remove any latent dust from cutting. Expansion joints should be sand blasted or dry cut, diamond saw should be used.
Application: Keep the final fill of product slightly below grade; fill joints when they are cool and open. A primer should be used for very large moving joints with high exposure to surface chemicals. Damp or wet areas must be primed using ASTC primer 6012-2F. Set backer rod to depth. Usually twice the width will equal the depth of the backer rod. Best adhesion is obtained with greater surface contact on the sides of the joint, i.e., slightly deeper over backer rod. Dispense the product into the fill area. Penatron 4037 may be dispensed from duplex cartridges or applied via a plural component ASTC pump. Options: 4037 may be used neat without fillers for various joint applications and is used with *ground rubber for large crack repairs where movement of the crack may be expected.
Kerf Applications: Use 3/4 inch by 3/8 inch clean washed and dried, low dust, round rock. The kerf is filled with select rock in layers not greater than 3 inches (in depth) at a time and filled with 4037. Additional layers may be placed as soon as the 4037 thickens and before it sets. Select rock is held about 1/8 inch below finished grade allowing the 4037 to fill to finished grade.
Limitations: Always MIX Part B before use. Do not use on wet surfaces or expose part A to moisture. This product is moisture sensitive and should not be applied to wet surfaces. Damp areas are primed using Penatron 6012-F moisture tolerant, epoxy fast set primer. Hot conditions: the product will set considerably faster in hot conditions and slower in cold conditions. Do not use product that is hot. Keep out of direct sunlight and store the product kits on wood pallets at room temperature. KEEP product cool when storing just before using.
Packaging: 21 ounce duplex cartridge cases and 10 gallon kits
Curing Time: from 5 to 8 minutes up to 45 minutes, depending on required speed and surface temperature and/or substrate/environmental temperature.
