Penatron 3003
The Standard By Which Other
Control Joint Materials Are Judged

The Penatron 3003 is the original "slow-system" polyurea. Penatron 3003 is 100% solids with good working time for hand-mix applications and can be applied from dual cartridges or four gallon kits, and can also be pumped from ten gallon kits or 110 gallon kits.

Penatron 3003 is installed using a small, two-component pump. This application averages 1200 to 1800 linear feet per hour in control joints.

BALANCED FORMULATION: Because the Penatron product formulations are so well designed and balanced, the product has a very long shelf life, does not crystallize in equipment, and is very easy to mix with a drill and paddle mixer or even a mixing stick. Balance is also evident in the part A and B viscosity of 340 and 350 cps, and newly mixed product will definitely "bond" to product that has already cured.

The Penatron Polyurea System offers advantages not found in other products:

  • Exceptional Installation Speed: Saves money and man-hours.
  • Fast Set-Up & Cure, Even in Cold Temperatures: Allows versatility in many applications.
  • High-Quality Formulation Design: Does not "exude" (lose components) or become brittle. Penatron is constant and reliable, maintaining resilience and long-term dependability.

Control Joint Applications

Penatron 3003 is rapidly becoming the material of choice for owners, contractors, and specifiers, replacing semi-rigid epoxy and polyurethane technology. Penatron 3003 is successful where other materials fail because it is hard enough to support heavy forklift traffic (Shore 85A), yet has elongation properties to allow for minor slab movement and minimal shrinkage in the concrete. Penatron 3003 can be applied at a rate of 1,200-1,800 linear feet per hour by a qualified ASTC applicator. Drive over time is 30 to 45 minutes at any temperature.

The Penatran 3003 can also be installed in cold storage control joints. Here a new freezer floor is brought down to a working temperature of -10°F and the joints are filled using heated Penatron and a 1:1 pump.

Freezer Thresholds

Freezer Thresholds

The concrete in a threshold between a freezer and a warmer warehouse section often shows signs of damage. The damage is caused by the constant thermal cycling of warm to cool slab temperatures on one side of the threshold, exerting different coefficients of expansion and contraction pressures on the cold side of the threshold slab. Both the cold side and the warm side develop cracks and deterioration resulting in spalls. Fork-lift traffic increases the damage through weight and impact.

Penatron 3003 has been used to repair and replace concrete in the threshold area. The 3003 acts as a buffer to minimize the effects of thermal changes at the threshold and the product absorbs shock and impact from forklifts creating a threshold is not affected by heat or cold.
